Daniel Clowes Eightball #3 "Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron" Story Pg. 7 (1990)

This composition is Page 7 of the third chapter of Clowes' celebrated graphic novel, which originated in 1989 in Eightball magazine and then reappeared in 1993 as a self-contained edition, Like a Velvet Glove... Clowes' notation (reverse) identifies the page as his "first ... created in the 1990s," dating it at Jan. 1, 1990. The sequence finds hapless Clay Loudermilk becoming obsessed with a strange motion picture. The page starts as a near-duplicate of its Eightball counterpart, then proceeds to rearrange the order of events. A fascinating study of the working methods of a brilliant, restless artist-intellect. Ink and Zipatone shading film over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10.5" x 16.5". Slight darkening in the Zip surfaces.  Excellent condition.
